Communication Accross Borders
Many international clients are never quite sure if employees’ communication skills in English are sufficient to carry out their work effectively with international partners and clients. The following four variations of the CAB concept show the advantages of having TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) facilitators as part of the Experience UK team. While focusing on the common goal of improving communication in English, colleagues openly share ideas about their daily work in a creative and experiential atmosphere. From an activity of ‘designing’ the perfect airport (using English vocabulary) an international airport was able to significantly improve their customer satisfaction score ( just by listening to employees’ view)

“That is not my job!”
Interdepartmental communication barriers can create a powerful and destructive “US vs. THEM” attitude.
In order to disrupt the eternal “blame-loop”, employees come together from different departments to attend an English training seminar.
In this seminar, employees will:
The relaxed, playful and non-threatening environment of an English learning seminar provides the ideal environment to tackle sensitive issues, while the constant use of English creates a new communicative atmosphere, with everyone on a first-name and universal “you” basis.
Role-plays and presentations conducted in English allow participants to discover the nuances of the language in a practical setting which can be used later in the workplace.
‘Thank God we’re normal!’
Why continue to suffer losses because of late deliveries, unreliable information and miscommunication?
Whether you are dealing with subsidiaries or business partners in other countries, you will often be puzzled by their seemingly absurd attitudes and procedures – until you understand the underlying cultural premises
Invite your foreign employees, subcontractors, partners etc. to a joint seminar with the employees from your company providing the communication link.
In this seminar, you will:
Participants leave this training knowing whether they will enjoy working in your company. The successful candidates will join the organisation already knowing some colleagues who were seleceted at teh same CAB event. much more than the knowledge of how to improve sales performance. They leave with a set of personal strategies which:
‘Typical French!’
If language skills are the ‘door’… then cross-cultural awareness is the ‘key’ to the international market!
When dealing with clients and colleagues from many different countries, it becomes impossible to have a deep understanding of each and every culture. What is needed is sensitivity, flexibility and a host of behavioural alternatives.
The globalisation of business requires more and more people to deal with people from various cultural backgrounds. It is not enough anymore to expect your business partners to adjust to your culture. Good interpersonal relations are vital to establish and maintain solid and profitable business contacts.
In this seminar, you will:
Our own experience of living and working as expatriates is unique
Team building is very rarely done by taking employees out of their comfort zone. However, in order to make a difference in thinking participants are placed in to the same learning zone of the English language. They need to all be ‘in the same boat.’ They support each other by making joint presentations and learning how to respect their colleagues whose culture is either very different or ‘perceived’ as being very similar to their own.
The experiential and ‘fun’ atmosphere creates a safe environment to really get to know colleagues in the non hierarchical ‘English’ workshop.
‘But he seemed fine in the (30 min) interview!’
Hire awesome people with passion.
Great leaders do not settle for mediocrity and never hire someone out of desperation. They ensure that people will fit the company culture.
By hiring the right people, you’ve already won half of the battle.
Rather than gambling when facing important recruiting decisions, you have the chance to invite promising candidates together with long-term employees to a 2-day seminar to test their compatibility, and thus avoid time and money consuming mistakes.
At the same time, all participants benefit by improving their English language-skills and their communicative abilities.
In this seminar, you will:
Participants leave this training knowing whether they would enjoy working in your company or not. Even if they are not selected this time they might apply again at a later date, indicating their determination and fit with the organisation. The successful candidates will join the organisation already knowing some colleagues who were selected at the same CAB event.
The organisation will benefit because:
> successful candidates will be more suited to the job, since a more accurate selection is made due to the amount of time spent with them.
> successful applicants will have been approved by their future managers who also attend the event.
> the level of English communication is more accurately assessed through real-life task oriented activities.
We look forward to speaking to you about your specific needs and wishes. Please give us a call or click on the envelope to E mail.
